College to offer range of online courses

MacMurray College will offer five classes online this summer and during its summer session. Several of the offerings are required of students at all colleges and universities, and credit for all courses can be transferred.

 Summer Session

The summer term classes start Tuesday, June 4, with registration ending Thursday, June 6. All courses are three credit hours; all are taught online; the term ends Friday, July 12.

 The classes held on campus this May are:

  •  Learning Characteristics for Diverse Needs (Special Education 244), taught by Beverly Johns, visiting instructor of special education.
  • Introduction to the Novel (Rhetoric 102), taught by Donna Metcalf, visiting instructor of English.
  • College Writing and Research (Rhetoric 102), taught by Donna Metcalf, visiting instructor of English.
  • College Writing (Rhetoric 101), taught by Allan Metcalf, professor of English.
  • Ancient and Medieval World (History 103) taught by Christopher Strangeman, assistant professor of history.

 July Term

The following courses will be offered during the the three-week July term, which runs June 25 through July 12, with registration closing June 27.

  • Instructional Methods for Diverse Learners (Special Education 344), taught by Beverly Johns, visiting instructor of special education. Class meets at 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
  • Modern and Postmodern World (IOCC 401) taught by Christopher Strangeman, assistant professor of history. Class meets 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
  • Ancient and Classical Worlds (IOCC201) taught by Eric Berg, associate professor of philosophy and religion. Classes meet 9 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Thursday.
