MacMurray soccer presents awards

The men’s and women’s soccer teams at MacMurray College recently announced their respective individual awards for their 2012-2013 seasons. These honors are voted on by the players and were presented during the end-of-the-year soccer banquet.

 “We are proud of all our soccer student-athletes and their efforts this past year, said head soccer coach Shane Taylor. “These awards are special, because teammates are voting for fellow teammates and recognizing each other’s accomplishments.”

 Those receiving awards for the 2012-2013 seasons were:

 Women’s team:

  • Offensive Player of the Year:  Caroline Keppler, of St. Louis, is a freshman majoring in elementary education. The 2012 graduate of Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis is the daughter of Tim and Gina Keppler of St. Louis.
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Jessie Aguirre, of Park Forest, IL,  is a freshman majoring in criminal justice. The 2012 graduate of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights is the daughter of Thomas and Nancy Aguirre of Park Forest.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Elizabeth Suhrbier, of Pana, IL is a sophomore nursing student. The2011 graduate of Central A&M in Moweaqua, IL, and Monticello Scholar at MacMurray, is the daughter of Julia Perry of Pana.
  •  Most Improved Player of the Year: Elizabeth Suhrbier, of Pana, IL is a sophomore nursing student. The2011 graduate of Central A&M in Moweaqua, IL, and Monticello Scholar at MacMurray, is the daughter of Julia Perry of Pana.
  • Best Goal of the Year: Tori L. Keller,  of Glen Carbon, IL  is a freshman who has not declared a major. The 2012 Edwardsville High School graduate is the daughter of Dean and Penny Keller of Glen Carbon.

 Men’s team: 

  • Offensive Player of the Year: Blake Camacho, a sophomore from Quincy, IL, majoring in in business. The 2011 graduate of Quincy High School is the son of Carrie and Devon Dede of Quincy.
  • Defensive Player of the Year: Miles Money, a freshman from Freeburg, IL, is majoring in nursing. The 2012 graduate of Freeburg High School and Presidential Scholar at MacMurray is the son of Mark and Shari Money of Freeburg.
  • Most Improved Player of the Year: Todd Hanson, of St. Louis is a junior biology major. The 2008 graduate of Saint Louis University High School is the son of Robert and Elizabeth Hanson of St. Louis.
  • Best Goal of the Year: Andy Alvarez, of Belleville, IL, is a freshman who has not declared a major. The 2012 graduate of Belleville West High School is the son of David and Sandy Alvarez of Belleville.
