MacMurray artist to have solo show

JACKSONVILLE, IL –  MacMurray College Associate Professor of Art Khara Koffel will be showing her work in a solo exhibition, “such a time” in the Main Gallery of at the Lux Center for the Arts in Lincoln, NE. An opening reception will be 5-8 p.m. March 1, with the exhibition continuing through March 29.

 Koffel will be showing more than a dozen of her recent works, including “the revelation of wanting” (pictured), a collection of fortunes from fortune cookies linked into chains long enough to cover the artist’s body.

 The Lux Center for the Arts is a private, not-for-profit art center near Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE, dedicated to enhancing the lives of a diverse public through the visual arts. Its Web site is at http://luxcenter.org/

 Koffel has exhibited her work widely in the United States, with one-person exhibitions or pieces accepted in juried shows in Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Maryland, Alabama and California.  Her sculptures are often highly personal, and reflect on her relations with friends and family and are by her memories of objects that stir feelings of nostalgia for people, places, or periods of time that no longer exist.

 In 2000, she received her bachelor's in Studio Arts and Art History from Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA, and, in 2003, an MFA in sculpture and photography from the University of Alabama. See her Web site here. She resides in Jacksonville with her husband, Marc Benner.
