MacMurray professor speaks at conference

Director of Physical Education Danielle Doerfler weighs in on women in athletics.

MacMurray College Director of Physical Education Danielle Doerfler was a member of a panel at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) “Women’s Leadership in Athletics...Discover What's Possible" Symposium in Chesterfield, MO, on Saturday Nov. 10.

"I was very excited when presented with the opportunity by Sam Burmeister to speak at this conference,” Doerfler said. “I think it provided a wonderful experience for young women to hear about the opportunities they have in the athletic world while providing them with a foundational knowledge of how to get there.  It was a very empowering day for women."

The session offered insight into the wide variety of career opportunities available to women in athletics. During the session, there were panels discussing their personal experience, opportunities and resources available to achieve their employment goals.

The panel discussed careers in coaching, athletic administration, physical education and sports marketing. The audience included female athletes and students from across the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
