Hester to display images of MacMurray, world
JACKSONVILLE, IL – MacMurray College President Colleen Hester presents a photography exhibit, “Images of MacMurray and Other Wonders of the World,” beginning Friday, Oct. 5 through Oct.25, at the Applebee Gallery in the Springer Center for the Arts on the MacMurray campus. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
The exhibit will be open 5:30 to 7 p.m. for the Downtown Gallery Hop on Oct. 5 in Jacksonville. Then, the next evening, Oct. 6, an opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. at the Applebee Gallery, with a gallery talk at 5:45 p.m.
The Applebee Gallery will be open weekdays and during MacMurray Homecoming weekend, when the gallery will be open Saturday, Oct. 20 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon, closing during the 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. hour for the MacMurray Homecoming parade.
Selected photos from the exhibition will be available for sale in a silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will support the Committee on the MacMurray Art Collection, which is sponsoring the exhibition and which stewards and builds the MacMurray College Art Collection.
After homecoming, the exhibition continues to be open for viewing weekdays through Oct. 25. Hester’s 60-plus photographs on display will include shots from the MacMurray campus and from her trips abroad, including Venice (pictured) and elsewhere in Europe and from Asia. The Springer Center is at the southeast corner of State and Clay streets in Jacksonville.
