MacMurray hires Dean of Student Affairs

Marty Sabolo brings 20 years of student life experience.

JACKSONVILLE, IL – MacMurray welcomed Marty Sabolo to campus this semester as the new Dean of Student Affairs.

A Wood River, IL native and a 1983 graduate of Roxana High School, Sabolo was most recently the director of housing and associate dean of students at Arkansas Tech University for the past 10 years. Before that, he was resident director at Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, and director of housing at Dickinson State University in North Dakota.

“I am looking forward to returning to my roots of working on a small liberal arts campus,” said Sabolo. “I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and working with the faculty, staff and students to make the college experience the best possible. I firmly believe that in order to prepare our students to succeed, we need to give them a truly holistic education, both in and out of the classroom.”

Sabolo received his bachelor’s degree in speech and theatre arts from Blackburn College in 1987 and his master’s degree in college student personnel from Arkansas Tech University in 2004.

Sabolo has worked with orientation programming, campus activities, special events, and alcohol and other drug education. He has also developed and taught a first-year experience class. “I think that one of the things that I bring to MacMurray,” he said, “is an enthusiasm and passion for lifelong learning and experiential living and learning.”
