MacMurray student honored

Karl Tooren named September student leader of the month.

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Karl Tooren, of Hoffman Estates, IL, was named student of the month for September at MacMurray College. Tooren is a senior secondary physical education major and is pursuing a health minor.

 Tooren is active in many different organizations on campus. He is currently the captain of the MacMurray men’s soccer team, vice president of the Physical Education Club, member of Omega Theta Psi, and a member of the Mortar Board.

 “Karl has been an incredible leader on the soccer field lifting his teammates while they are down and leading them to victory,” said Shane Taylor, head soccer coach, who nominated Tooren with Assistant Coach Blake Ordell. “He has shown great teamwork, leadership and work ethic and has had a positive influence on our large freshman class.”

 Tooren has also spent his time volunteering around campus, including helping with student orientation at the beginning of the semester.

 Tooren is the son of Ralph and Barb Tooren of Hoffman Estates, IL.
