MacMurray enrollment rises

Full-time freshman increase 40 percent.

JACKSONVILLE, IL – MacMurray’s 2011-12 full-time freshman enrollment shot up 40 percent this year, an increase that bodes well for the College’s enrollment strength in coming years. The overall student count increased to 548, up 4 percent compared to last year at this time.

“MacMurray’s investment in its admissions efforts and marketing toward full-time freshmen has yielded great results,” said Colleen Hester, president of the College. “This gives us a solid base for the freshman class of 2012.”

The number of new, full-time freshmen was 126 this year, up from 90 in at the same time in the 2010-11 academic year. The boost in full-time, entering students is an encouraging sign for the future of the college and forms the core of the Class of 2016.

The number of transfer students, largely juniors entering from area junior colleges, edged up slightly this year, from 87 to 90. That was a boost of more than 50 percent from two years ago, when 57 transfer students enrolled at MacMurray in the fall of the 2009-10.

The figures, compiled on the 10th day of the school year, are the official enrollment figures at colleges and universities.
