Annual phonathon exceeds goal
March 8, 2011
For the fourth straight year, MacMurray College’s largest fundraising effort, Livewire 2011, exceeded its goal.
Livewire 2011 blew past its $160,000 goal by nearly 8 percent this year. The 11-day effort received $172,622.86 in pledges for the College.
During late February, 22 MacMurray students placed 5,729 calls to parents, faculty, staff , alumni and other friends of the College as part of MacMurray’s annual fund-raiser. Despite the economic uncertainty and shortening the calling period by three days, more than 2,000 donors contributed.
“MacMurray has many wonderful traditions in place, and Livewire, the annual phonathon, is no exception to those traditions,” said Jenni Gee, director of Annual Giving, who headed up the effort for the first time this year. “I am especially excited for the success of all the student callers, as their hard work reaching out to the MacMurray family truly paid off in the end. A special thanks to all the parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of MacMurray who, through their generous donations, truly make Livewire a huge success each year.”
A large portion of the proceeds from Livewire help support the College’s operating budget, which includes all that MacMurray does: teaching and learning, co-curricular programs, scholarship, cultural events, and public service.
