Lincoln and MacMurray colleges to sign partnership
Two historic institutions announce articulation agreement, scholarships.
President Colleen Hester of MacMurray College will join Lincoln College President Jon Astroth for a special signing ceremony held 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 17 on the Lincoln College campus in Lincoln, IL. The media is invited to attend.
The two presidents are coming together to formally recognize a new agreement between the two historic liberal arts colleges. The articulation agreement eases the enrollment process for Lincoln College students completing their undergraduate studies at MacMurray College in Jacksonville. (Lincoln College is a two-year private college.) The agreement also sets up scholarships for graduates of Lincoln who transfer to MacMurray.
“We are pleased to formalize this agreement and scholarship support with Lincoln College, where students are effectively prepared for on-going education,” said MacMurray President Hester. “In recent years, eight Lincoln College graduates have come to MacMurray and have successfully completed their undergraduate degrees. Four Lincoln College graduates are currently enrolled at MacMurray College. We are historic colleges committed to providing students with a strong, rich foundation for effective professional life and for life-long learning.”
The new agreement awards Lincoln College students who have successfully completed an associate’s degree and who are admitted to MacMurray College, 60 credits or junior status upon transfer. In addition, Lincoln students may qualify for several scholarships and awards.
These scholarships include up to $5,500 annually if the students graduate with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and are enrolling on a full-time basis through the Lincoln College – MacMurray College Partnership Scholarship award. Other scholarship and award programs include the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship, which awards $2,500 annually if they completed their Lincoln College associate’s degree as a member of the Honor Society and enroll at MacMurray College on a full-time basis; and another award of up to $4,000 through the Lincoln College – MacMurray College Transfer Award. The scholarships and awards will vary based on the students’ graduating GPA.
“We are delighted to announce this agreement and these scholarship opportunities. It’s a wonderful outcome of our shared philosophy on creating a student-centered learning environment,” President Astroth said. “At Lincoln, we are immensely proud of the high rate of success of our graduates as they move on and complete their academic studies at other institutions.”
