Mortar Board names 17 members

The Cap and Gown Chapter of Mortar Board, MacMurray’s premier honor society, inducted 17 members for the 2010-11 academic year. Membership is granted to high-achieving juniors who serve in Mortar Board during their senior year.

The Mortar Board class of 2011 is:

Katie Beck, a major in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Education, is the daughter of Mike and Judy Beck of Effingham, Ill. On campus, she is involved in Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

Sabrina Brullo, majoring in Interpreter Training with a minor in Psychology, is a graduate of Hoffman Estates High School and the daughter of Helaine Brullo of Hoffman Estates, Ill. She is involved in the Interpreters and Deaf Educators Association and Alpha Lambda Delta.

Megan Conklin, a Special Education major, is a graduate of Greenview High School and the daughter of Mike and Connie Conklin of Middletown, Ill.

Anna Dickhut, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish, is a graduate of Camp Point Central High School and the daughter of Monte and Karen Dickhut of Camp Point, Ill. She is involved in the Council for Exceptional Children, MacMurray College Student Ambassadors, Alpha Lambda Delta and Pi Rho Sorority.

Kimberly Dirksen, majoring in Psychology, is a graduate of Pecatonica High School and the daughter of Douglas and Barbara Dirksen of Pecatonica, Ill.

Audra Glenn, majoring in Social Work with a minor in Psychology, is a graduate of Carlinville High School and the daughter of Doug Glenn of Chesterfield, Ill., and Becky Glenn of Carlinville, Ill. Glenn is involved in Brothers and Sisters in Christ, the Social Work Club, Campus Activity Board, MacMurray College Choir, Campus Theatre Productions, LiveWire and the MacMurray College Pep Band.

Allie Harrison is a Nursing student with a minor in psychology. She is the daughter of Tom and Brenda Harrison of Virginia, Ill. She is involved in the MacMurray College Dance Team, Alpha Lambda Delta and the Student Nursing Association.

Brittni Hickox, a Nursing major from Jacksonville, Ill., is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Hickox of Jacksonville. She is involved in the Student Nursing Association, and Boosting Alcohol Conscious Concerning Health of University Students (BACCHUS).

Anissa Lane, a Social Work major with a minor in Psychology, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Lane of Atkinson, Ill. She is involved in Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Social Work Club, Boosting Alcohol Conscious Concerning Health of University Students (BACCHUS), the Campus Activity Board, the MacMurray College Choir and plays on the softball team. She is a peer leader, orientation leader and a MacMurray College Student Ambassador.

Stephanie Long, of Springfield, is a Biology major and the daughter of Richard and Janet Hall of Macon, Ill.

Cori Pate, who is majoring in Interpreter Training and Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Education, is a graduate of Jacksonville High School and the daughter of Harry and Vicky Pate of Murrayville, Ill. She is a MacMurray College cheerleader, dance team captain and is involved in the Interpreters and Deaf Educators Association.

Kati Peterson, a Nursing major, is a graduate of Winchester High School. She is the daughter of Tom and Julie Peterson of Manchester, Ill. She is in the Student Nursing Association and Alpha Lambda Delta.

Nicole Spiess, is majoring in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher Education. She is a graduate of Lisbon High School and the daughter of Gary and Kim Spiess of Lisbon, Iowa. She is involved in the Interpreters and Deaf Educators Association, Holy Fools, MacMurray College Theatre Productions and MacMurray College Pep Band.

Deena Splady is a Nursing student who lives in Jacksonville, Ill.

Megan Usherwood, a Special Education major and graduate of Jacksonville High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Usherwood of Glenarm, Ill. She is MacMurray College women’s soccer team captain; plays softball and basketball; and is involved in the Council for Exceptional Children.

Michael Viles is a Special Education major from Jacksonville, Ill.

Dr. John Cox, of Jacksonville, a professor of Social Work, was named an honorary member of Mortar Board.
