Professor awarded state grant

MacMurray Associate Professor of Nursing Jill Parsons was named a 2014 Nurse Educator Fellow, a state of Illinois program designed to help retain well-qualified nursing faculty.
The program, administered by the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Advisory Board for the Illinois Center for Nursing, provides a one-time salary supplement to selected faculty from approved and accredited nursing programs at institutions of higher education in Illinois. Dr. Parsons was among 20 nursing faculty in the state to be named a 2014 Fellow and was recognized in June during a joint ceremony in Springfield and Chicago.
Dr. Parsons, who has been teaching at MacMurray since 2011, earned her bachelor’s and master’s in nursing at Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing in Peoria, IL, and her Ph.D. from St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO. She lives in Rushville with her husband, Curtis and their three children.
