Three former faculty honored

JACKSONVILLE, IL – At its 163rd Commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 3, MacMurray College will honor three current Jacksonville residents and former faculty members of MacMurray with honorary doctorates for their contributions to the college, the community and the nation. They are:

 

  • John D. Cox, professor emeritus and distinguished former chair of the Social Work Program at the College. The College will confer an honorary degree of Doctor of Social Science on Dr. Cox. Read more about Dr. Cox.

 

  • Mary Works Freiburg, professor emerita of biology who was a mentor to generations of MacMurray graduates during her 34 years of teaching at the College. MacMurray will confer an honorary degree of Doctor of Science on Dr. Freiburg. Read more about Dr. Mary Freiburg.

 

  • Richard Eighme Freiburg, professor emeritus and former distinguished chair of the Biology Department at MacMurray. The College will confer an honorary degree of Doctor of Science on Dr. Freiburg. Read more about Dr. Richard Feiburg.

 

As previously released, the College will also award an honorary Doctor of Public Service to former Lt. Gov. Robert W. Kustra, who will be the Commencement speaker at the ceremony. For the previous release on Dr. Kustra, click here.
