Facilities on Campus
The lab in Mac Hall Room 11 has 7 computer stations and a printer available. The room is available for student use everyday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is located on the 2nd floor of Mac Hall and is not disability accessible. It is a quiet study space with a couch and a small table for small groups to meet for projects.
The main computer lab is located in the Ed Complex, room 203 and allows all students a variety of hardware and software options. This lab is equipped with 20 computers. They have Windows XP installed and are connected to the campus network. A laser printer is also available.
The Art Department computer lab consists of an Apple iMac with Adobe Design Premium CS5 and Lightroom with OSX 10.6, as well as a Mac G4 with OS 10.4 with a Wacom tablet.
The lab also has an HP Designjet 120 large format printer.
Center for Learning Excellence
The Learning Center has five computers running Windows XP with Internet access. These machines serve many students each day by providing a range of software: Success Builder Math Review alongside Trigonometry; Algebra 1 and 2; and Calculus. Medical Terminology for Health Professions for our nursing students, Adobe Reader/Flash, and Taxcut Software for the business classes are also provided.
The nursing computer lab consists of Windows XP-enabled machines with wide-format flatscreen monitors. MicroSim Inhospital client is installed on all computers for use with the Laerdal SimMan medical simulation program. This is a highly advanced Competence Management System that prepares our nursing students for the real world in the medical field with fully simulated instruments, displays, and scenarios. Also available are Medical Terminology for Health Professions and a debrief viewer which is for monitoring class sessions from recorded scenarios.
Pfeiffer Library has eighteen publicly available desktop computers in both the Reference & Periodicals Rooms. Connected to two high-speed laser printers, these computers are available for word processing, email, web searching, and using the library-selected online reference resources or full-text databases.
The library staff carefully selects the online reference resources and databases for content and support of the college's curricula, so that students can find reliable and pertinent information easily. Available from anywhere on the campus network, these databases include Academic Search Premier, OmniFile Full Text Select, CINAHL Plus with Full Text, JStor, PsycINFO, Education Research Complete, SocINDEX with Full Text and many others.
