MacMurray College Email Services

The IT Department is proud to introduce Gmail at MacMurray College! This new system, powered by Google, will provide Gmail to our school which will enable our organization to better communicate, share, and collaborate. Google Apps Education Edition allows schools and universities to give Google's communication and collaboration applications to their entire campus community for free. All services are hosted by Google and are available to users via any internet-connected computer and many mobile devices. Google Apps includes services such as Gmail, which provides gigabytes of email storage, highly effective spam filtering, and powerful search.

Q: Can I still access my old @mac.edu account?
A: No. As of November 30th 2010, all old student email addresses have been disabled.

Q: How do I login to my MacMurray Gmail account?
A: To login to your email account, use the "Student Webmail" link in the Quicklinks bar located at the top of every page on the main MacMurray College website, or you can simply type, click, or copy/paste this web link into your internet browser's address bar: http://www.google.com/a/webmail.mac.edu. Bookmark this page so that you can get to your email quickly.

Next, in the username field, type your email address prefix, which is the portion of your email that precedes the "@" symbol. For example, if your email address is agriffith@webmail.mac.edu, just enter agriffith in the username field. Notice that it is not necessary to type "@webmail.mac.edu", as this entry is already made. Then, type your password, which was provided on a hard-copy in your campus mailbox, and click "sign in".

Q: I am a returning student, has my email account and password changed?
A: Yes, your new email address login information will be provided in a hard copy in your campus mailbox. For returning students, please note that your email address has been changed from agriffith@mac.edu to agriffith@webmail.mac.edu . Notice that the prefix will stay the same, but the @mac.edu will change to @webmail.mac.edu.

Q: How do I change my MacMurray Gmail password?
A: Once logged in, you can click the Settings link at the top-right of your Gmail page, then choose the Accounts link in the middle of the orange section. The third entry is Change Account Settings: Google Account Settings. Once you click that, you can find the change password link next to Security in the center of the page.

Q: My question is not answered here, can you help me access my email account?
A: Of course! Please feel free to call the IT Department Help Desk at 217-479-7032, or you can email us from an alternate email account (such as Yahoo, AOL, or Hotmail) by sending a message to helpdesk@mac.edu so that we can help you quickly get access to your MacMurray email account.

Q: Why are we using Google-powered services?
A: Google provides this service to Educational Institutions free of charge, and it is fast becoming the de-facto standard on campuses nationwide. The IT Department at MacMurray College now offers this secure and easy-to-use method of providing email services to our students.

Faculty and Staff Email

Faculty and staff may continue to access their email through http://mail.mac.edu/. To log in, type your entire email address, including the "@mac.edu" portion (ex: jane.doe@mac.edu). Then, type your password.
