Second half struggles led to Highlander defeat

Westminster University defeated MacMurray College on the road 71-58.  Both teams got off to a slow start, with the half-time score of 23-24, the Highlanders trailing.  Westminster outscored MacMurray 47-35 in the second half. 

The Westminster defense forced 33 turnovers, including 12 steals.  Westminster converted 35 points from Highlander turnovers. 

Sophomore Guard, Ali Rebbe led the Highlander offense with 13 points.  Also scoring double-digits were senior guard, Gabrielle Douglas and freshman guard, Carley Prince.  

For the Blue Jays, Sadie Theroff had a game high 14 points, and Leigh Ann Lutz and Jen Herndon chipped in 13 and 11, respectively.    

The Highlanders drop to 1-11 overall and 1-5 in the SLIAC.  The Highlanders return to action Saturday at Greenville College at 1:00 p.m.
