The MacMurray Highlanders welcomed in Iowa Wesleyan Saturday afternoon and suffered a late game loss, 64-61 against the Tigers.
MacMurray's relentless defense forced a number of turnovers early on and aided in securing a quick lead. The Highlander offense worked inside out and established a good post attack to find easy scoring. Mac trailed by just one at the half 31-30.
The Iowa Wesleyan Tigers would not go away however, and came back to take a slight lead in the second half. With around five minutes remaining it appeared MacMurray had claimed the momentum for good, but the Tigers answered the challenge. A controversial non-call on a missed shot attempt by sophomore Clayton Whitlock would put the game out of reach for the Highlanders, who were defeated 64-61. Clayton Whitlock was the high point man with 13 and junior Cole Busch added a team high 9 rebounds.
