The MacMurray College women’s basketball team topped Illinois College on Monday, November 19th, 49-45. The win marks two consecutive years that MacMurray has beaten Illinois College in their annual cross town contest; and was the Highlanders first win of the season.
Turnovers and cold shooting by the Highlanders, allowed Illinois College to take a 26-22 half time lead. The Highlanders were able to put together a solid second half as they were 4 for 9 in three point shots and seven for 11 in free throws. Mac put the game away in the last five minutes of the contest with key made free throws and steals.
Senior Whitney Wade led the Highlander offense with 15 points in the contest and went four for six in three point shots. Seniors Kelsey Anderson and Amy Radford tipped in with eight points apiece.
With the win, the Highlanders improve to 1-2 on the season.
