The MacMurray College women's soccer team (0-2) dropped a 3-0 decision at home Sunday afternoon against Northland College (Wis.). Despite being outshot 22-9, Coach Bill Koeppen's squad played the LumberJills (2-0) to a scoreless tie until the 38th minute, when Alexandria Ritchie scored on a breakaway goal.
Northland led at the half 1-0 and Ritchie made it 2-0 midway through the second half when she scored her second goal of the game and fourth goal of the weekend. Natalie Absil capped off the scoring with a goal with ten minutes left in the match.
Tiffany Hazelwonder and Alexis Mitchell paced the Highlander offense with three shots apiece. Amanda Gorell made eight saves in goal for MacMurray.
The Highlanders will look to record their first win of the season on Wednesday when they host Stephens College (Mo.) in a 1PM start.
