The MacMurray College baseball team split a pair of SLIAC conference games Tuesday afternoon at Iowa Wesleyan College. The Highlanders fell 3-1 in the first game and rallied for a 6-5 win in the nightcap.
The Highlanders had only four hits in the first game against the Tigers. Freshman outfielder Raustin Zahradka was 1-3 and batted in the lone MacMurray run. Senior lefty John Brockhouse pitched four strong innings in relief.
Coach Justin Fuhler's club snapped a four-game losing streak with their 6-5 win in the second game. John Hilliard tossed two scoreless innings in relief and picked up the win and Connor Kurrle was credited with the save.
Offensively, Jeremy White went 2-5 and scored two runs, Derek Crouch went 2-5 with two runs batted in, and Alec Quandt went 2-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
With the win in the second game, the Highlanders took two of three games in their conference series with Iowa Wesleyan College. The Highlanders improve to 8-10 overall and 4-5 in league play.
The Highlanders will travel to Millikin University on Thursday for a single game at 4PM.
