The MacMurray College baseball team evened its record at 6-6 with a 6-0 shutout over visiting Iowa Wesleyan College Wednesday afternoon at Don Timm Field.
Senior lefty Anthony Willeford (2-1) struck out eleven and allowed only three hits in eight shutout innings. Senior reliever Connor Kurrle pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Highlanders.
Coach Justin Fuhler's club took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-out, two-run single by junior catcher Aaron Krummrich. Krummrich went 2-4 in the game with two RBI and a run scored. Freshman third-baseman Alec Quandt hit a 3-run homer to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning. Mike Raines and Raustin Zahradka both went 1-4 and scored runs in the win.
The Highlanders improve to 6-6 overall and 3-1 in SLIAC league play; while Iowa Wesleyan falls to 3-10 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
MacMurray travels to Springfield tomorrow for a single game vs. Robert Morris University-Springfield. Tomorrow's game will start at 12:30 and be played at Sacred Heart Griffin High School.
