The MacMurray College men's basketball team streaked out to an early ten-point lead and never looked back Saturday afternoon in a 93-61 win at Principia College. The Highlanders shot 55% from the field and were 50% behind the 3-point line to cruise to a SLIAC win over the Panthers.
Coach Todd Creal's club had five players score in double-figures and were led by Clayton Whitlock's sixteen points. Brady Slagle had a solid all-around game with fifteen points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Paul Crowder had twelve points, Spencer Pratt added eleven and Dylan Burton chipped in with ten points and seven rebounds.
Damon Wilgus led the host Panthers with a game-high seventeen points; but the Highlanders held Kenny Sydness (who came into the game as the leading scorer in the SLIAC at over 25 points per game) to eleven points.
MacMurray College improves to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play; while Principia falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in SLIAC play.
The Highlanders head to Warrensburg, Mo., tomorrow to face NCAA Division II University of Central Missouri in a 2PM tip against the 7-1 Mules.
