October 8, 2013

MacMurray College center Clayton Whitlock has been named an Honorable Mention Preseason All-American by DIII News.

During the 2012-13 season, Whitlock averaged 14.7 points per game, and had a 63 percent field goal percentage.  He lead the SLIAC in field goal percentage. Whitlock was also named to the SLIAC First Team as a sophomore and named the conference’s preseason Player of the Year for the upcoming season.

“This is a tremendous honor for Clayton, given by a very respected publication. It is a testament to his skill and work ethic on the basketball court.  Clayton's success in the classroom and involvement in our community makes this recognition especially meaningful. Our entire basketball family couldn't be happier for him,” said Highlander Head Coach Todd Creal.

Whitlock, of Springfield, IL, is a junior majoring in sports management.  He is the son of Ray and Jeanne Whitlock of Springfield.
