Annual Pink Night Match Raises Money/Awareness

November 11, 2013

Representatives from the Illinois College and MacMurray College volleyball teams recently presented a check in the amount of $2,279.52 to the Mia Ware Foundation.  The funds were raised as part of the annual “Set, Serve and Rally for the Cure” volleyball match between the two Jacksonville colleges on Oct. 23rd at Illinois College.

The teams sold pink t-shirts and other promotional apparel and also held a silent auction prior to the match. The colleges and their respective volleyball programs have agreed to make this an annual fundraiser for the Mia Ware Foundation and raise awareness of breast cancer research and prevention. MacMurray College will hold next year’s game/event on Oct. 22, 2014 in Wall Gymnasium.

Participants in this year’s check presentation included Illinois College Head Coach Rachel Rohn, IC team captain Marissa Moulton, Shawn McCombs and Michelle Gebhardt from the Mia Ware Foundation, MacMurray College team captain Sammy Jo Petefish, and Highlanders’ Head Coach Danielle Doerfler.
