MacMurray College appoints new coaches

The Highlander soccer teams welcome two new assistant coaches for their 2013-2014 year. 

Cate Simmermaker joins the MacMurray team as the new assistant soccer coach for the Highlanders. She is a 2013 graduate from from Earlham College in Richmond, IN, where she received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry. “It’s exciting to have Cate be a part of the MacMurray College soccer program,” said Head Coach Shane Taylor. “She has excellent knowledge of the game. She’s the perfect fit for our program and will bring new energy and experience to all areas of the assistant coach position. I’m looking forward to working with her and growing our soccer program.” Prior to MacMurray College, Simmermaker worked as a coach in Richmond, offering private coaching lessons to help develop skills imperative to soccer. “I am thrilled to join the men’s and women’s soccer program at MacMurray College,” Simmermaker said. “I look forward to the prospects of growth and success for both teams this coming season”

Corey Suter, a MacMurray College alumnus, also joins the Highlander team as the new men’s assistant soccer coach. “Corey is an exceptional addition to our staff and I am very excited to welcome him to MacMurray,” Taylor said. “He possesses a strong worth ethic and a passion for coaching. He’s been instrumental in developing players in the Jacksonville area, and will complement our coaching staff nicely.” Suter graduated from MacMurray College in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Suter completed his soccer career as MacMurray where he played for two seasons. “I’ve been a fan of MacMurray soccer since I was a child. I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a part of the program as a player, and excited for this new endeavor as a coach. I look forward to working with Coach Taylor, his staff and the student-athletes.”
