Men’s basketball receives post season recognition

JACKSONVILLE, IL – Clayton Whitlock of Springfield, IL, was named to the First Team All-Conference and the All-Sportsmanship Team for the 2012-2013 year by SLIAC. Whitlock is a sophomore at MacMurray College double majoring in business management and sports management. He is the son of Ray and Jeanne Whitlock of Springfield.

     Whitlock finished the 2012-13 season with 368 total points, averaging 14.7 points per game.  He finished with a 63.3 field goal percentage from the floor and tallied 124 rebounds and 30 blocks. 

Also joining Whitlock with post season honors are:

  •  Luke Bishop, of Jacksonville, IL, was named a SLIAC Honorable Mention. Bishiop is the son of Fred Bishop of White Hall, IL, and Cheryl McCarthy, of Roodhouse, IL. He is a senior majoring in criminal justice.  Bishop scored a total of 294 points for the Highlanders this past season.  He averaged 11.8 points per game and finished the year with 52 assists. 
  •  Cody Best of Staunton, IL, was named to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team. Best, a senior majoring in sports management, is the son of Gilbert Best Jr. of Staunton and Penny Tomlanovich of Staunton.  Best tallied 27 steals and 47 rebounds during the year until his season was cut short due to injury.
