The MacMurray College men’s basketball team recognized their seniors on Wednesday, February 13th against the visiting Beavers of Blackburn College. The Highlander's sent their seniors out with a big win, 81-67.
Despite inspired play from senior Jake Columbia, the Highlanders struggled early on. They dug themselves into a 13-22 hole but would soon rally back to take a 24-25 lead. The Blackburn College Beavers led 31-34 halfway through, but this would not last for long.
The Highlanders exploded out of the gates after halftime and secured a comfortable lead. They would keep this advantage over much of the second half, before really pulling away late. MacMurray saw excellent sharp shooting from senior Luke Bishop and sophomore Hunter Sutton. As a team the Highlanders sank over half of their shot attempts as they won an emotional game, 81-67.
The victory puts the Highlanders a game above .500 at 12-11 and 9-5 in conference games. Next up MacMurray will travel to take on the Panthers of Greenville Saturday, February 16th at 3pm.
