Women's Basketball Drops Two Close Games at Greenville Tournament
December 8, 2012
The MacMurray women’s basketball team let two games just slip away from their reach last weekend when they traveled to Greenville College for two games against Robert Morris-Springfield and St. Mary of the Woods College.
The team dropped its opening contest of the tournament to Robert Morris-Springfield 62-60. The Highlanders led the Eagles 35-30 at the half and had an 11 point led early in the second half but 15 turnovers and cold shooting during the second half lead to the Eagles victory.
Senior Whittney Wade led the Highlander offensive with 16 points while senior Rachel Yeast added 12 points.
The team took on St. Mary of-the-Woods on December 8th and fell short 78-85. Junior Sierra Sherrod totaled 18 points and six assists. Senior Kelsey Anderson chipped in 15 points with three steals.
The team returns to action on January 5th against Greenville College at home at 1:00pm.
