The Success Story of Jim Rayburn '71

MacMurray classes that taught me how to speak in front of others and how to write and be understood; giving me the ability to communicate in the world at a level grads from many larger schools are not able to match."
Jim graduated from MacMurray College in 1971 with a bachelorís of science degree in economics. While at Mac, he played baseball and was a Varsity M member. In 1993, Jim completed a masterís in business administration from Northwestern University. The following year, he earned certification as a licensed real estate sales person from Hogan School of Real Estate.
During his distinguished career with ServiceMaster Management Services, which stretched over 30 years, Jim rose from assistant account manager in 1971 to the office of vice president, a position he held from 1997-2003. Following ServiceMaster, he served as the branch manager of Sunlakes Realty-Saddlebrooke, which experienced substantial growth under Jimís leadership.
As a community volunteer, Jim has served in a variety of capacities. His service includes those to youth as a baseball coach, leadership roles in his church, and as an officer on homeowners associations.
Jim was elected to the MacMurray College Board of Trustees in May 2010 as alumni-elected trustee. He served many years on the Alumni Board participating as chair for various committees and as vice president. Jim continues to be passionate about the present and future success of his alma mater.
Jim and his wife, Kay, reside in Naperville, Illinois. His stepson, Kristofer Meyers, is a 2001 graduate of MacMurray College.
