Bob Clary '80

Mac provided the opportunity for me to try new things. One area was with the chance to participate on the cross country team. I discovered that I had talent as a runner. I have been a member of various sponsored running teams, competed internationally, and have received numerous awards. I continue today to participate as a competitive runner and triathlete.

While attending MacMurray, Bob majored in business administration and economics. He was an active member of both the cross country team and the swim team. It was on the swim team that he met his wife, Alisa Bailey '79. Bob also participated in the Student Senate as well as the campus newspaper, The Daily Other, serving as the advertising manager.

Following graduation, Bob continued his education and obtained a master's in business administration from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS). In 2007, Bob received the Loyalty Award from UIS alumni association. He is pursuing his Chartered Financial Consultant designation.

Bob's entire career has centered around information technology. He has served in a variety of roles working with start-up firms as well as industry leaders such as IBM. Today, Bob is a manager in the systems department of State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois.

Some of the community activities in which Bob participates include Bloomington-Normal/Asahikawa Sister Cities Committee, International Friends at Illinois State University, Crown Financial Ministries, and the local Military Affinity Group.

Bob's interest in athletics continues as an active, competitive runner and triathlete. He has earned numerous awards for his athletic achievements, including induction into the MacMurray College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bob is serving his second term on the MacMurray College Alumni Board and is chair of the alumni relations committee. He served on the presidential search committee in 2007, was a member of President Colleen Hester's inauguration committee, initiated the alumni mentoring program on campus, hosted Mac athletic teams at his home, and sponsored alumni events.
